We worship on Sunday mornings. Upstairs, artists are at work in rooms that used to hold Sunday school. In 2027 the main floor opens as Idylwood Commons, a coffee bar and community room for anyone in the neighborhood.

Idylwood Studios: art that makes community
In 2024 a Transformation Grant from National Capital Presbytery turned our old Sunday school rooms into artist studios and a small gallery. Local artists and a writer work there now. They don't have to join the church. They do have to believe in community.
Community Curator Pam Huffman puts up a new show every few weeks, giving priority to new, local artists of color. Openings, artist talks and ArtTogether afternoons are free. Out front, the Free Little Art Gallery works like a little free library: take a piece, leave a piece.

Paintings by Jose A. Quinonez at Idylwood Studios, through October 14. Acrylic and mixed-media work drawn from heritage, ceremony and everyday ritual. Twenty percent of all sales go to Just Neighbors, which provides immigration legal services in Northern Virginia.

Idylwood Commons, opening in 2027

We're turning about 1,000 square feet of the church's main floor into a full coffee bar and community room, open 7 am to 3 pm Monday through Saturday and 8 am to 1 pm on Sunday. Anyone can walk in, get a good cup of coffee, and be known, whether or not they ever come on a Sunday. There will be tables and wifi for working, room for support groups, book clubs and homework help, and space for small concerts and art classes.

Three congregations share our building, so on a Sunday you can hear worship in English, Korean and Spanish. We belong to the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and National Capital Presbytery.
